What Do You Have Time For?
Time! Time for what? I don’t have time for that! Maybe on the weekend honey. Ask me later. I’ll try…
Do any of these statements feel like excuses you may have spoken recently?
Better Time Management
There are times when we are busy, but there is no time when we never have time. If this is true for you then you are doing something wrong.
Now, you might say, “I’m in the middle of a project and I knew when I started this I would be working 60 hours a week.” Fine, but you had better have defined the term in which you will continue this focus. If this is an undefined timeline then you need to revisit your goals, particularly if you have people sharing in your life.
3 things to remember
- Know how much time you will put towards a project and the term you have committed to this focus. e.g. 60 hours a week for 10 weeks. It must have a definite end.
- Talk about it with the people that share in your life and get their buy-in. Your kids, spouse, family, and friends needs to know when you will be able to return to your regular relationship with them.
- Be vigilant that you are not cheating yourself, your family, or your business of your free time. That’s right, I said ‘your business’. If you are not taking time to rejuvenate and restore your energy you will become less effective at what you do.
We are all busy and I will say it again – there is no time when we never have time – so make sure you know what time it is. Give yourself some distance from your work to replenish your passion so you can continue to do amazing things for others with the support of the people that love you.
