Choosing to Grow
Last night on a group call I was asked by the event host how I was able to create an event and fill a room when this was not something I did all the time for a living. I told her I felt it came down to three key things:
1. Set the date
Don’t let the vision of creating something in the future stay a vision. If you want it to be real you need to set a date.
2. Don’t make it too far in the future
Make it a few months out so you can get your marketing calendar filled and work on filling the room, but make sure it is not too far in the future or it becomes easier to push it back when other things become more important or take precedence.
3. Don’t downplay your ability
If I can do this so can you. Start with the end in mind and work backwards to determine what you need to do. The first two things I did was pay a deposit on the venue so the date was now set and then create a sales page that I could then use to invite people and write all my marketing copy around.
If you want to grow your business you need to take action, not just once but over and over.
