Now that you have finished envisioning your future, evaluating your time resources, examining what to let go of, and establishing what resources you need, you probably want to get started, but before you do, you need to stop.
“X” – The “Stop & Start” Stage in EXIT Readiness

This is the step that prepares you and your team for the implementation work that will follow.
It is not enough that you know what you want to change, but you now must ensure everyone on your team knows what is going to change, the order it is going to change in and their part in that change. It cannot be a download of your expectations to the team. It needs to be a team plan. So where to start?
Start with the items you first want to STOP doing. What are the tasks and responsibilities you will let go of first? Let your team know what they are. Work together to determine who, or what you need to be able to make that happen. If you just assign it, you likely will not get the same buy-in as if they chose to do that work. If your solution is to stop doing everything yourself (and it should be) getting your team owning the change will make them more engaged in the process and it is more likely to be successful.
Before you start to implement your plan, start by planning how to STOP what you are doing now. With the plan in place and everyone on board with the direction you have all chosen, you can then START delegating the work and move into your transition implementation plan.
