Hey everyone welcome to my website for entrepreneurs. I’m really excited to be in a position to help other business owners and business leaders find the answers and support they need to grow their business and increase more income & profit.
I started my first business over five years ago. I started in an MLM company with amazing business training and support. I quickly realized I loved working for myself but this was not the right business for me so I start my second business ClearComm Information Design Inc., a company that helps medical device and software manufactures regain some of their engineering time by offloading their manual design and writing to us.
Discovering Business
Throughout this time I found myself often saying, “I can’t believe that a techie like me would find the business aspect of my company more interesting then the actual core business function.” It was true; my passion was always around how my product or service could benefit my clients’ businesses as a whole. I loved business so much I continuously got training that would benefit my business skills and mindset.
Finding My Life’s Purpose
Recently, as I was reworking the marketing plan for my company, I was offered the opportunity to consider taking over a friend’s business. This is a stable, well branded and very well known business. Its core function is to help new business owners learn how to run their business effectively. Initially I turned her down sighting my numerous projects, programs and lists of things to complete.
She was not put off and started to tell me a story of how she has been searching for the right person, the person that was more interested in helping her clients succeed then filling their pockets with cash. She had already turned down offers because of this poor selfish attitude. After her story she turned to me and said, “I want you to reconsider.” I was shocked and flattered. I promised I would think about it.
I spent that weekend considering the opportunity. I talked with my husband, Brian about the offer. I talked to my mastermind group. I talked to my mentor. Everyone said to me, “this should be a ‘no brainer’ Barb. This is what you do all the time and do for free. You should get paid for it.”
Wow, they were right. I was so passionate about business I mentored business owners for free, I gave out information and my time to support people. I took on a director’s role with BNI so I could serve more people. I love to connect with business owners. I love to help people vision and strategize.
So now the dilemma was three new issues:
- This business transfer was not going to happen within the next six months, in which time I was planning on putting more than $10,000 into marketing for ClearComm Information Design Inc. If I did this I would not have the time or funds to take on my friend’s business.
- If I waited to take over my friend’s business and did nothing with ClearComm and then did not get the my friend’s business I would have lost the opportunity to have a growing company in either ClearComm or my friend’s business.
- If I got my friend’s business and ClearComm grew to the level I had predicted I would not have time to look after my friend’s business in a way that would be of service to my new and old clients. Plus I would be working more in a company (ClearComm) in the capacity as an expert but not where my true passion was.
So I decided the best fit would be to create a new company that would allow me to work in my passion, would fit with the company my friend wanted me to take over or would function and grow without that business if the purchase did not happen. I was so excited when this forth choice was revealed to me. I felt like I was given the keys to Disney world and told, “go, create, build, have fun and invite everyone to play with you.” I have been gifted with this path and I feel ecstatic every day I get to work in this business with amazing business people from around the world.
Sharing Mastermind with Other Entrepreneurs
I built BLITZ Business Success specifically because of the support I have had over the years that has made a difference in my personal and business growth. Support that has been the envy of many of my peers. Support I could not share because the opportunities to join were limited. Support I could define but not implement for people because I had no additional time to make it work for others. But now I do.
Initially the plan is to give others my favourite and most useful support – the mastermind group. From my last 4 years experience with mastermind I have been able to create a system that groups like-minded people with peers of equal success to be able to pool their knowledge, support and accountability and gain insight and growth for themselves.
